Information about Literacy
I am going to give you a short overview of one component of our literacy block in first grade.
Our district uses the Pathways to Reading phonics program. In the past three years of teaching this program, the most confusion the parents had dealt with vowel town. Please click on the link below so you can hear the different sounds and also shows you the layout of the vowel town. We will practice using the vowel town daily!

We are in transition between our old state standards and the new Common Core State Standards. These new standards increase the rigor expected of the students. I won't list all of the information on here, but please email me if you would like more information.
I am eager to begin our thematic units of study and will also be using the Daily Five in the classroom. This format will foster independence in each child in order to make them the best reader, writer, and communicator that they can be!
